About Smoking Blows

I'm someone who's lost my mother, my father, my sister and many other close relatives from cigarette smoking due to their life long short addictions to nicotine. My sister was only forty years of age when she painfully passed away, leaving three young children motherless.

I'm also a healthcare professional, someone who's often seen the devastating terminal effects of nicotine addiction first hand, and someone who's also sick and tired of being exposed to secondhand smoke. I want the world to fully realize the terrible consequences of this easily preventable affliction, and I'm doing something about it.

While it's often been said that using non-judgmental, non-confrontational, and other namby-pamby, ball-stroking actions helps better convince smokers to attempt quitting, those actions could also be considered enabling. Nothing is worse than enabling and coddling an addict.

What I believe that's often needed in order to convince smokers to attempt quitting is awareness, a wake-up call, a slap in the face, intervention and simple stark reality. Fear, anger, and disgust are all powerful emotional motivations for change, and smokers need to be motivated in order to quit.

So, I author this blog to point out the fool and folly of cigarette smoking in order to continually remind smokers of their destructive behaviors, to encourage them to attempt quitting and not give up, and to convince our youth that nothing good EVER comes from a nicotine addiction.
