It's March 2011 and Kick Butts Day is back, with new opportunities to take action against tobacco!
Tobacco use is the number one cause of preventable death in the United States and around the world.
Tobacco killed one hundred million people worldwide in the 20th century — and if current trends continue, it will kill one billion people in the 21st century.
Every year, tobacco kills more than 400,000 Americans and more than five million people worldwide.
Did you know that more deaths are caused each year by tobacco use than by all deaths from human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), illegal drug use, alcohol use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined? The vast majority started smoking as children.
So, let's do something about it.
On March 23, 2011, thousands of youth in every state and around the world will STAND OUT ... SPEAK UP ... and SEIZE CONTROL AGAINST BIG TOBACCO.
Last year, the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids celebrated Kick Butts Day with more than 1,000 events across the country. This year they are looking forward to an even bigger and better Kick Butts Day!
Become a part of the campaign. The 2011 Kick Butts Day website has a great activity guide, with many new events and tips on making your Kick Butts Day event a celebrated success!!!
